St Andrews Links Trustee

St Andrews Links is the world's most renowned public golf complex and recognised across the globe as the Home of Golf®.

On 1 January 2018 a vacancy will arise on the Board of Trustees. The Trust is constituted by the St Andrews Links Order Confirmation Act 1974 and this appointment will be made by Scottish Ministers via a nominations committee chaired by the Chair of Trustees.

The Links Trust plays an important role at the Home of Golf® and is responsible for maintaining the renown of one of the most important golfing destinations in the world. It is a registered Scottish charity and this is an exciting opportunity to play a part in shaping its future development.

There are currently eight members of the Board. Trustees have a collective responsibility to pursue its statutory remit and oversee its wider goals and ambitions. 

The Trust is a dynamic organisation with global interests, this requires the Board to have a sound understanding of how to identify and seize business opportunities. The position requires applicants to:

  • Contribute to strategic development
  • Have experience of serving on a Board(s) which interact with an executive management
  • Experience of making robust collective decisions
  • Have experience in one of more of the following: delivering infrastructure projects, doing business in the Far East, growing retail businesses, leading people through change and organisational development

The appointment will be for three years and there is the possibility of re-appointment, subject to evidence of effective performance. The appointment will be confirmed and made by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport.
