Co-founded by World Golf Hall of Fame member Arnold Palmer and cable entrepreneur Joe Gibbs on January 17, 1995, Golf Channel in 2011 became part of the NBC Sports Group and now is available to nearly 500 million viewers in nearly 80 countries and nine languages around the world.
In its first year on air in 1995, Golf Channel televised 23 tournaments in the United States and 41 European and Australian events. Today, Golf Channel features more live golf coverage than all other networks combined, including tournament action from the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, European Tour, The Open, Olympics, and Ryder Cup, as well as high-quality news, instruction and original programming.
