Scott Herald - Senior Instructor

Hometown: Glasgow, Scotland

Joined the Academy: January 2015

Previous post: Touring Professional

Scott joined the Golf Academy team from his native Glasgow with a successful background in coaching and playing. Scott showed signs of a blossoming career at a young age winning titles at each age group within his county and playing in prestigious national and international events. He then attended University in Nashville, Tennessee on a golf scholarship before returning home and successfully undertaking his PGA qualification in 2008.

Since joining the Golf Academy, Scott has taken a lead role in developing the relationship with the University of St Andrews helping deliver group and individual lessons to over 200 students per week during semester times.

Scott began to forge a promising coaching career, learning from some notable tutors whilst developing his own philosophies of how to maximise an individual’s potential and technique. Scott firmly believes that the key to a successful coach-pupil relationship is communication and trust, and he understands that the facilities and technology available within the Academy can only enhance this bond.

Scott’s coaching philosophy is based around establishing the key fundamentals to allow for a strong and consistent golf swing. He believes it's important to assess each student's strengths and weaknesses then devise a plan to help them reach their goals.
