Rachel Lewis - Academy Operations

Hometown: Cardiff, Wales

Joined the Academy: 2018

Previous post: The Vale Resort, Wales

Since the age of 10, Rachel has grown to love the game of golf. She started playing as a junior at Llanishen Golf Club, before moving to one of Wales' finest championship courses; Southerndown. From here, Rachel’s amateur career grew. She went on to win the Welsh Girls Championship in 2010 which secured her a place in the Welsh national team.

At the age of 17, she accepted an American golf scholarship to Nova Southeastern University, Florida, where she was awarded the 2013 Sportsmanship Award for her positive and enthusiastic personality. She was the first nominee in the history of the award to be submitted by a competing institution.

In 2014, Rachel graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology and returned home to the UK to win the Bridget Jackson Bowl and the Astor Salvor trophy. However, it was at the Ladies Home Internationals that Rachel realised that her true passion was to provide others with opportunities to also love the game so decided the PGA degree was the right path for her.

Alongside the PGA degree, Rachel began working at the Vale Resort where she quickly became an admired coach with the youngsters. She ran a successful junior program that saw over 250 children between the ages of 2-10 develop a passion for golf.

Now, at the Home of Golf, Rachel is heavily involved in the day to day management of the Golf Academy. She is on hand to help with general enquiries, involved in a coaching capacity for SALJGA and is the go to member of staff for assistance with TrackMan Range.
