Mike Lander - Academy Instructor

Hometown: Upholland

Joined the Academy: 2017

Previous post: Head Professional, Myerscough Golf Academy

Mike began his golfing journey at the young age of 12 when he moved to the back of hole 14 at Dean Wood Golf Club. Right from the beginning he spent every possible hour learning, playing and catching the infamous golf bug. At 16 he decided to enrol as a student at Myerscough College to study a National Diploma in Golf Studies. This covered all things golf; coaching, technology & equipment as well as sports science; physiology, psychology & biomechanics.

Completing this course with high distinction, Mike remained at Myerscough attending the University of Central Lancashire where he studied a BA Honours in Golf Coaching & High Performance. He continued his academic success there achieving a First Class degree.
During this time, he volunteered as an Assistant Junior Coach at Myerscough Golf Academy where he was later employed as an Assistant Professional. Mike completed his PGA training continuing his high standard results by placing in the top five PGA ‘Assistant of the Year' standings. By the end of his PGA course, he had become the Golf Operations Manager of the Academy managing all things coaching and operations. However, his main interests lie within the ‘learning environment’ which he is constantly researching how to acquire skills via good quality practice and a long-term focus.
