2021 Guidelines

June 07 2021

From Monday 17 May, much of mainland Scotland and some islands will move to Level 2.

Our courses remain open for play offering the challenge of links golf in a safe environment for all ages and abilities.

We would ask all golfers to acknowledge these guidelines until further notice:

Group Numbers

Travel to and from St Andrews will be permitted from across the UK.
Groups can consist of up to 4 golfers with no restrictions on number of households.

Single Golfers

Single golfers will continue to be able to book tee times on all courses with the exception of the Old Course where a minimum of 2 golfers per ballot entry is still required.

Travel and Covid Guidelines

With mainland Scotland all placed in level restrictions all adults may leave their local authority area to travel to St Andrews. Tourist accommodation is permitted to reopen from Monday 26 April so overnight stays are permitted and golf can be booked on consecutive days.

We recognise that many golfers who reside outwith Scotland still cannot travel to St Andrews at present as a result of Covid guidelines. We would like to thank you for your patience and continued support throughout this unprecedented period.

The health and wellbeing of colleagues, customers and golfers remains our priority and we continue to ensure we provide a safe environment for everyone, promoting social distancing and responsible behaviour at all times.

If you do have or make a booking in the days and weeks ahead please do not come to any of the courses if you are showing Covid-19 symptoms. If you have visited the Links and start to feel unwell or experience symptoms of Covid-19, please follow NHS guidelines. If you test positive for Covid-19, follow Government guidelines. If you test positive within 7 days of your visit to the Links, please also let us know at the earliest opportunity by contacting the Covid Officer via our Links Clubhouse Reception (01334 466666) or via email.

Booking Golf

  • Golfers must have an advance booking – no one should turn up at any Starter’s Box expecting to secure a tee time.

  • Bookings can be made by calling 01334 466666 from 9am the day before play (opening hours 9am – 5pm). A limited number of tee times may be available online.

  • The singles list is not currently in operation on the Old Course.

Repairs to the 2nd fairway and approach to the 8th hole of The Castle Course are now complete, however some areas of GUR remain in place as it beds in.

Playing Golf

During this time we have undertaken a number of measures to ensure the safety of our colleagues and golfers. Please help us ensuring our courses and facilities can provide a safe environment at this time. Please do not come to any of the courses if you are showing Covid-19 symptoms.

  • Please don’t arrive at the Starter’s Box more than 15 minutes before play.

  • Please follow all instructions for golf that are displayed on the 1st tee and do not touch the flagstick and smooth over any bunkers with your golf club or foot.

Food and Drink

Over the winter months a huge amount of work has been undertaken to ready some exciting new concepts within our Food and Drink operation.
In each of our clubhouses you will find new ideas, identities and exciting menus for you to try.

  • In the Links Clubhouse we are delighted to present the Tom Morris Bar & Grill. Formerly the Swilcan Lounge, the Tom Morris Bar & Grill celebrates the life and influence of the Grand Old Man of Golf overlooking the courses he helped to shape. The Tom Morris Bar & Grill is a Scottish produce driven, casual dining restaurant with a real sense of history.

  • At the Castle Course we are delighted to introduce an exciting new menu at the Rock & Spindle. Overlooking the spectacular coastline and boasting panoramic views across The Castle Course and the volcanic Rock & Spindle sea stack. Enjoy Scottish gastropub classics, handmade burgers, fresh fish and chips, mussels and fine, local ales, all within the modern clubhouse setting.

  • Located within the Eden Clubhouse, a popular spot for golfers playing the Eden, Strathtyrum and Balgove Courses, you will find Cafe Spike, which proudly serves simple, Scottish fayre. Whether you are an early riser or looking for a late lunch, you will find soups, sandwiches, home baking, Scottish-roasted coffee, tea and a selection of fine local ales, wine and ciders. The perfect spot for a pre or post golf visit for refreshments.

In line with Scottish Government guidance, alcohol consumption will be permitted in the outdoor seating areas at Rock & Spindle and Cafe Spike.
