Home of Golf Announces New Exclusive Offers For 2020

July 02 2020

St Andrews Links Trust has today (Thursday 2nd July) published a new registration page for golfers who wish to play the Old Course in 2020.

Due to the ongoing global response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trust has rescheduled a number of visitor tee times for next year. As a result we can offer golfers the opportunity to secure a limited number of tee times from mid-July through to October on the Old Course.

In recent months the Trust has been inundated with well wishes from the global golf community as well as enquiries from across the UK and beyond from golfers seeking to secure a tee time on the world’s most famous Links.

With a number of golfers still committed to playing this year the Trust has outlined two additional routes to play in 2020, a guaranteed tee time on the Old Course later in July and a Two Course Package, which will have limited availability from 3rd August.

John Grant, Director of Golf, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed ticketholders back to the Links for more than a month now, providing a great opportunity for so many in the local area to get out and play golf in a safe environment.

“With travel restrictions looking set to ease and tourism beginning to return later this month we want to continue supporting our community by welcoming visitors back to a safe, secure environment on our courses the courses and in the town. From the queries we have received to date we anticipate this will primarily be focused in Scotland to begin with before expanding to other parts of the UK and beyond as the year progresses.

“In order to facilitate this we have created an easy and efficient way for golfers to express an interest in playing the courses. As with so many aspects of the response to the global pandemic the opportunity for us to offer tee times on the courses within a calendar year is a unique one, and we have sought to identify means for golfers to access the courses whilst respecting the many existing bookings we still have in the diary, recognising the efforts and commitment of those golfers to visit the Links and honour their bookings.”

The registration form enables golfers to enter their contact details and specific dates where they would be available to secure an Old Course tee time between 16th and 30th July or a Two Course package from 3rd August. The reservations team at the Trust will then strive to allocate the tee times as quickly as possible, working chronologically from those most imminent onwards.

Mr Grant added: “We will begin to contact successful golfers from Monday 6th July. We will work through available times chronologically so if anyone specifies dates in August, September and October we would like to thank them in advance for their patience whilst we process requests.

“Our social distancing and working practices are now well established. Our number one priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers and wider community. We are proud of the work undertaken to date and we look forward to delivering more memorable experiences at the Home of Golf.”
