The Callaway Story

Making the game easier for all levels of player

Callaway has always believed that the way to grow the game of golf is to make it more enjoyable for the average golfer.

As a company it continues to value the traditions of the game, and there is no better place than St Andrews for the company to showcase its ongoing support for golf, and to promote greater participation.

The company was created in the early 1980s when former textile and wine businessman, Ely Callaway, purchased a share in the Hickory Sticks USA golf company.

In the early days, Mr. Callaway steadily grew the business, but the introduction of a radical new four-faceted sole design incorporated into a stainless steel perimeter weighted club transformed the business and charted its path to become one of the most powerful and recognisable golf brands in the world.

Callaway and The Home of Golf

Callaway continues to enjoy a strong association with the spiritual home of golf and has a Performance Centre at the St Andrews Links Golf Academy. Callaway is committed to improving every level of player, from beginner through to tour professional, and its state-of-the-art facilities, at the heart of golf in St Andrews, gives customers the opportunity to try a wide selection of the company’s products whilst using the latest ball flight monitors to analyse and establish the perfect products for their game.

Callaway also supports the St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA), which was founded in 2002, and has since gone on to help over 1,300 juniors between the ages of 5 and 18 and at school in St Andrews, take up the game.

Innovation: Driving greater enjoyment of the game

Callaway has never been bound by the constraints of what people believe golf clubs and balls should look like – if it had, the Big Bertha Driver, Big Bertha Irons, Odyssey 2-Ball Putter and HX Tour Golf Ball would never have been made.

What has always been important to Callaway is to find the best materials and the best designs to make every golfer a better golfer and its game-changing products continue to deliver on this promise.

Callaway continues to showcase its brand and the cutting-edge performance of it products on Tour with the help of some of golf’s most distinguished players including Tom Watson, Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson, Danny Willett and Thomas Pieters.
