Address - the Power Triangle.

The first fundamental in any good golf swing is the address. unfortunately, because you have so many other swing thoughts, its easy to get into a bad address habit and not know about it.

Ask someone who knows a bit about the swing to look at your address position. The key thing they need to look for is the 'power triangle'.

Adam Scott (pic below), Australia's 22-year old big-hitting Tour player, who trains with Butch Harmon, demonstrates it perfectly.

Note the shape of the triangle formed between the shoulders and the grip. This is the ideal position from which to begin a good repeating swing. Points to note are:

Adam's Power Triangle

Left shoulder higher than the right.

Head behind the ball, chin away from chest.

Hands are just behind the ball - not in front of them. Hands can be moved forward slightly for the irons.

Left arm relaxed but straight.

Ball just inside left heel

Shoulders width of inside of the feet

Summary: The Power Triangle incorporates all the key factors in achieving the correct address position. This position, coupled with correct alignment, will produce more consistent golf shots.
