The era dominated by Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods who held such a dominant position during this time other golfers were generally fighting for second place. Tiger brings a focus to the game not seen before but this is also an era where golfers realise that they are athletes at the top of their profession – fitness regimes, health, diet and mental coaching all become a standard part of the golfer’s programme. Golf technologies also push the boundaries with clams of clubs being more forgiving than ever and hitting the ball straighter however it is the development of the golf ball yet again that raises the debate and makes many classic courses almost obsolete for the professional golfer.
