St Andrews Links Trophy 2014

(established 1989)

Tournament Conditions

  • A competitor must be an amateur as defined by the current Rules of Amateur Status.
  • The Championship shall comprise 72 holes of stroke play, which will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules approved by the Organising Committee.
  • Entry will be limited to 144 competitors. Competitors will play one round over the New Course on Friday 6 June and one round over the Old Course on Saturday 7 June. The 40 lowest scores over these 36 holes, and any tying for 40th place, will qualify for the final 36 holes to be played over the Old Course on Sunday 8 June 2014. The remainder will be eliminated.
  • In the event of a tie after four rounds, the winner will be decided by a sudden death play-off over holes 1 and 18. Ties for other places will be decided on the lowest score for the last 18 holes or the last 9 or 6 or 3 or 2 or 1 hole. In the event of there still being a tie, the scores on the first 9 or 6 or 3 or 2 or 1 hole will be considered. Subsequently if still tied, a hole-by-hole match play summary should be used. If still tied, the scores for the 3rd round will be treated in the same way until a decision is reached.
  • Specification of Clubs and the Ball: The Specimen conditions on pg 137 and 138 in the Rules of Golf will be in effect as regards Conforming Driver Heads and Conforming Golf Balls.
  • Pace of Play conditions will be distributed at Registration.
  • Drugs: A competitor must not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. A competitor must, if requested, submit to a random drug test. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  • Transportation: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorised by the Committee.
  • Distance-measuring devices: The specimen Local Rule on pg 136 in the Rules of Golf will be in effect allowing the use of distance-measuring devices.
  • The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any competitor making a false statement on his entry form or to refuse or reject any entry without giving reason for its decision.
  • The Competitor shall start at the time laid down by the Committee.
  • The Committee reserves the right to fix and/or alter starting times and to alter or amend any of the conditions.
  • The Committee’s decision in all disputes is final.
