Booking the Old Course

It is easier to obtain a tee time on the Old Course than many might think. There a number of ways to do so if you have a suitable handicap (24 for men and 36 for women) and this page will explain each of them in detail.

Advanced Reservations

Advance Reservations Information 2016

Due to the large number of applications received between 26 August and 14 September 2015, the Old Course in High and Shoulder Seasons (1 April 2016 to 31 October 2016) is now full. All single golfer times are also full.

For anyone who applied between 26 August and 14 September please note that we are dealing with your application and we will contact you by the end of October - you do not need to re-apply at this stage.

For anyone who has not already submitted an application form and would now like to apply for the remaining dates, applications can now be submitted for the Old Course in Low Season; which is January to March and November and December; and for all of our other courses throughout 2016 (minimum of 2 golfers required).

You can apply for the Old Course during Low Season and for all dates on our other courses using the online 2016 Application Form which is available by following the link. Please check the Busy Dates before applying. The online form contains a calendar which has been updated to show the remaining Old Course Low Season availability (subject to change).

Advance Reservations Information 2015

You may still apply for tee times on the Old Course for play in December 2015 and for play on our other courses for the rest of this year by emailing our Reservations Department by email or by telephone on +44 (0)1334 466718 for information and assistance.

Old Course Ballot

Nearly half of the total number of tee times on the Old Course each year are allocated to the Ballot to give people who have been unable to book a chance of playing. It is drawn 48 hours in advance and golfers should provide their names, home club and handicap details either by phone or at one of the clubhouses before 2pm, 48 hours before the day they wish to play. To enter there must be a minimum of two and a maximum of four players per card.

Winter Package

Experience everything the Home of Golf has to offer with our fantastic Winter Package. Including one guaranteed tee time on the Old Course, the package also offers a round of golf on two other St Andrews Links courses and is available for customers who book accommodation in the area. Playing over three consecutive days, in addition to the Old Course golfers enjoy two rounds on the New or Jubilee Championship courses, the more forgiving Eden and Strathtyrum courses or the award winning Castle Course.

Single Golfers

Single golfers with suitable handicaps who wish to play the Old Course without an existing tee time should check in at the Old Pavilion on the day of play and the staff will do their best to join them with a two or three-ball group. There is no obligation on the existing golfers to make up a four-ball but common practice is that single golfers are warmly welcomed. With patience, this can be successful but there are no guarantees.
