Booking the Old Course

It is easier to obtain a tee time on the Old Course than many might think. There a number of ways to do so if you have a suitable handicap (24 for men and 36 for women) and this page will explain each of them in detail.

The Open 2015

We are delighted to be staging The Open Championship on the Old Course for a record 29th time in 2015. As with any major Championship a lot of tournament infrastructure will be put in place in the months leading up to July. Nearly half of the total number of tee times on the Old Course each year are allocated to the Ballot to give people who have been unable to book a chance of playing. It is drawn 48 hours in advance and golfers should provide their names, home club and handicap details either by phone or at one of the clubhouses before 2pm, 48 hours before the day they wish to play. To enter there must be a minimum of two and a maximum of four players per card.

Experience everything The Home of Golf has to offer with our fantastic Winter Package. Including one guaranteed tee time on the Old Course, the package also offers a round of golf on two other St Andrews Links courses and is available for customers who book accommodation in the area. Playing over three consecutive days, in addition to the Old Course golfers enjoy two rounds on the New or Jubilee Championship courses, the more forgiving Eden and Strathtyrum courses or the award winning Castle Course.

Through an exclusive contract with St Andrews Links, the Old Course Experience offers a range of programmes at the Home of Golf, all of which can be extended to take in Scotland's other famous courses and resorts. Visit their website by clicking on the link below for more information.

Single golfers with suitable handicaps can play the Old Course by entering the Old Pavilion early in the morning of the day they wish to play. The staff will try to join the golfer up with the first available two or three-ball providing the golfing group are happy with this, however it is at their own discretion.
