Booking the Old Course

It is easier to obtain a tee time on the Old Course than many might think. There a number of ways to do so if you have a suitable handicap (24 for men and 36 for women) and this page will explain each of them in detail. If you are looking to book an advance tee-time for 2015, please ensure you read our section on The Open Championship below before submitting your application.

The Open 2015

We are delighted to be staging The Open Championship on the Old Course for a record 29th occasion in 2015. As with any major Championship a lot of tournament infrastructure will be put in place in the months leading up to July. Disruption will be kept to a minimum but golfers should be aware of extra noise associated with the erection of grandstands and scoreboards whilst playing the course. In addition it will be necessary to limit access to our facilities as follows. Please note The Castle Course will remain open through-out the championship.*

Course Protection

It may be necessary to protect areas of fairways on the Old Course in the months leading up to the Championship. This would be kept to a minimum and would involve restricting play from a certain area and playing from mats nearby. All other aspects of the course should remain in play although this may change subject to weather conditions.

Golf Academy

The landing area for the Golf Academy will close from early May until late August and therefore short game facilities only will be available during this period. The Shuttle Bus service will also be suspended for the duration of the Academy closure.

It is drawn 48 hours in advance and golfers should provide their names, home club and handicap details either by phone or at one of the clubhouses before 2pm, 48 hours before the day they wish to play. To enter there must be a minimum of two and a maximum of four players per card.

Including one guaranteed tee time on the Old Course, the package also offers a round of golf on two other St Andrews Links courses and is available for customers who book accommodation in the area. Playing over three consecutive days, in addition to the Old Course golfers enjoy two rounds on the New or Jubilee Championship courses, the more forgiving Eden and Strathtyrum courses or the award winning Castle Course.

Single golfers with suitable handicaps can play the Old Course by entering the Old Pavilion early in the morning of the day they wish to play.
