Final preparations are underway to open the seventh course at the Links, the Castle Course, for the 2013 season.
The Castle Course will open for play on 1 March (Friday), ending its winter shutdown, which has enabled a number of projects to be carried out over the stunning links with panoramic views over St Andrews Bay.
Course Manager Allan Paterson and his team have worked tirelessly through the close season, overseeing projects on the 1st and 9th greens as well as extending the putting green.
Course Manager Allan Paterson said: "We've extended the 1st green in order to provide us with some extra pin locations, which will be a great help when it comes to monitoring wear and tear on the green.
"At the 9th green we have listened to feedback from golfers and looked to increase the landing area at the front, right portion of the green to widen the approach. We're really happy with how the work has bedded in and thiink golfers on the Castle will appreciate these changes."
The Castle Course is currently offering a round for only £59 including breakfast and a two-course lunch. Available from 1 March to 31 March golfers can enjoy a hot drink and filled breakfast before taking in the panoramic views over St Andrews Bay during their round on the Castle Course before enjoying a two-course lunch in the clubhouse.
Golfers are reminded that temporary mats will be in use for the duration of March.
