A busy week of action packed golf came to a close at St Andrews Links with a series of competitive matchplay finals on the Old Course.
In the St Andrews Boys' Open Merchants' Cup (Scratch) Sam Fitzsimmons, Windyhill, defeated Max Greyserman, Crestmont (USA), on the 19th hole. Meanwhile in the Murray Mitchell Trophy (Handicap) final Jordan Cook, City of Newcastle, defeated Matthew Hanna, Wallasey, after 19 holes of another thrilling final.

In the Open Quaich (Handicap) final Emma Kennedy, Dumfries and Galloway, defeated Wrag Barn's Courtney Boyes three and two.
Congratulations to Emma, Matthew, Jordan, Sam, Max, Samantha, and Rachel for their great play and sportsmanship in the finals, which was evidenced throughout by every competitor who took part.
Established in 1948, the St Andrews Boys’ Open has a long tradition of providing a high level of competition for aspiring young players giving them the opportunity to compete on Championship courses at St Andrews Links. The Junior Ladies' Open was established in 1989 to complement the Boys’ Open and to recognise the increasing level of interest in competitive golf for junior ladies.
The August Tournaments continue this week at the Links with the Eden and Strathtyrum Events, which start with practice rounds for competitors tomorrow (Sunday 11 August).
